Banyan Tree Spa

Banyan Tree Spa

When the first Banyan Tree Spa opened its doors in Phuket, Thailand in 1994, it pioneered a new luxury spa experience that would prove to be the winning formula in propelling the brand to become one of the fastest-growing hospitality and spa chains in the world today. Banyan Tree had set the gold standard in the industry with its distinctive tropical garden spa concept based on its holistic approach and exotic blend of timehonoured Asian healing therapies and beauty remedies amid a luxurious setting. Like the tropical and sacred tree it was named after, Banyan Tree Spa offers guests an oasis of calm that will leave you physically, mentally and spiritually
rejuvenated.

City Sanctuary

After almost two decades of global success, 2011 marked a key milestone for the brand – a homecoming as it opened its first spa in Singapore. Perched elegantly on the 55th floor of Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the tallest Banyan Tree Spa in the world allows guests to soak up spectacular views of the city skyline as attentive and expertly trained therapists knead away their tensions. Designed upon the ‘Tree of Life’ concept, the spa interprets the brand’s tropical garden spa setting, with a contemporary twist – washed in earth tones with black as an accent while a clever combination of textured materials evoke the theme of nature in a mystical rainforest. Boasting 15 rooms each with panoramic views, the spa offers guests pure indulgence in the form of luxurious massages and therapies like these signature treatments: Harmony Banyan, Royal Banyan and Tropical Rainmist Experience. Harmony Banyan is an indulgent 180-minute session thatharnesses the power of the Orchid, Singapore’s national flower. It comprises an Orchid Scrub followed by a massage performed by two therapists who synchronise in physique and movements to bring about a harmonious sense of well-being using a specially concocted Orchid massage oil, and a Head & Foot massage. The treatment concludes with a Therapeutic Orchid Bath. Feeling particularly stressed-out? The three-hour Royal Banyan is designed to alleviate the stress of city living with a Royal Banyan Herbal Pouch Massage using East-meets-West massage techniques and a herbal pouch dipped in warm Sesame Oil to soothe muscular tension and improve blood circulation. If you’re in need of an especially rejuvenating experience, book the three-hour Tropical Rainmist Experience featuring a combination of Rainmist Steam Bath and cascading Rain Shower guaranteed to soothe your senses before the luxurious body treatment that follows.

Giving Back to Society

Banyan Tree Spa’s commitment to delivering on its promises and providing guests with the finest holistic spa experience is based upon a philosophy of continual improvement through innovation and service excellence in all areas of its business. This begins at the root – ensuring that all of the spa’s therapists receive stringent training – via its three Banyan Tree Spa Academies in Phuket (Thailand), Bintan (Indonesia), and Lijiang (China). Therapists undergo more than 350 hours of rigorous theoretical and practical training in-house through a comprehensive programme specially tailored to ensure all Banyan Tree Spa and Angsana Spa therapists are trained to deliver the same level of exceptional service at any Banyan Tree Spa around the world. Besides providing a pipeline of trained therapists for the group’s ever-growing portfolio, the academies also provide a platform for the company to achieve its vision of making a positive social and economic impact in the developing countries where it operates – by empowering and equipping women with a skillset to improve their quality of life.

Branching Out

The group operates 70 spas across 27 countries and counting. This includes 25 Banyan Tree Spas and amongst its sister concepts, 42 Angsana Spas and three Elements Spas By Banyan Tree. Besides Singapore, two of its newest spas include Angsana Spa Laˇng Cô, which marks the company’s first foray into Vietnam, and Banyan Tree Spa Tianjin Riverside, its debut in Northern China. By the end of 2014, about 10 more Banyan Tree Spas and Angsana Spas will be opened in countries like India, Morocco and China. The company has set its sights on the latter to fast-track its growth, with approximately 20 new spas slated to be launched in China by 2015. So wherever you are in the world, the Banyan Tree brand holds the promise of a luxurious journey of unsurpassed bliss.
