Pictionary

You don’t have to be an artist to play this came. What makes the game more fun and interesting is if you can’t draw. With this game, you will have loads of laughter, especially one your team finds it challenging to decipher what the drawing is. All you need is a whiteboard for the player to draw the picture, and small pieces of paper to write the words in.

Charades

You can never go wrong with charades. Split your family into two teams and have one person from each team act out a movie, book, TV show, scene, animals, or anything and see which team guesses the answer. This game is especially useful if one of your children are introverts as it gets them to step out of their comfort zone and feel free.

Telephones

This is one to give you a stomach full of laughter at the end. The game goes by one person whispering a sentence into the ear of the other person sitting beside them. Then, the next person whispers to the next person what they heard. This goes on until the sentence gets to the last person. Finally, when it comes to the last person, they have to say out loud what they heard from the last person. This game tests the listening skills of your kids!

Never Have I Ever

Never have I ever is similar to the concept of musical chairs. Arrange chairs in a circle. Then, for example, one person stands in the middle and says “Never have I ever told a lie”. Anyone who has told a lie has to get up and leaving their chair unoccupied and find a new chair. Also, the person in the middle has to find a chair to sit on. the person left without a chair is the new person who has to go to the middle and say something they have never done. This game is perfect for parents who want to know what mischieve your kids have been up to!

Would You Rather

This game is more fun especially if you are creative. The players move to one side of the room or another depending on what they prefer, when given two options. For instance, the first set of options given might be “Would you rather eat kale or lettuce for the rest of your life?”. If your answer to this question is kale, then you would have to move to the left. If your answer is lettuce, you would have to move to the right.

Mad Libs

Now, this is fun if you have teenage children, but it could also be fun with little kids. Mad libs are a word replacement game. All you need to do is write a short story about anything. A holiday, something that happened at school or your own fairy tale. Keep writing until you have about 100 words. Then, remove the nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs or interjections. Pass it on to your family. You can either ask your family for suggestions of those words and enter them in or pass them the printed text with blanks and have them fill it out. Lastly, read them aloud and have fun laughing!

Hide and Seek

Hide and seek is a simple straightforward game that everyone has definitely played at least once in your life. All you have to do is pick someone and make them count to 30-50, depending how big your house is. While they are counting, run and look for a place to hide. Once they’re done counting they should scream “Ready or not, here I come”. The person who gets found first becomes the finder in the next round.

Simon Says

Simon says is a simple and fun game. Simon is the leader of the group and everyone else are the listeners. The person who plays Simon is to give commands in two different ways: starting the command with “Simon says…” or simply just stating the command. The goal of this game is to eliminate as many listeners as possible. The players or listeners are to only follow the command that starts with “Simon says”. If a person does the command that did not begin with “Simon says”, they are eliminated. Keep playing until the last listener is left. Then, the last listener becomes the next Simon.

Bingo

Bingo is a game of chance that anyone of any age can play. The scorecard has 25 squares and if you get 5 squares in a row, you win! This game is played by handing each player a Bingo card. Then, one person is assigned to be the caller. When the person calls out a number, you have to cross out the number, and if you get 5 crosses in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal row, then you need to shout Bingo! If you are playing Bingo with kids, you can either use words, symbols, alphabets or pictures in the squares.

Disney Battle

I mean, who doesn’t love a good Disney movie? You could play with Disney Quotes or Songs. Split your family into two teams and get one person from each team to take turns in singing or enacting a Disney movie scene. Whichever group guesses the answer right, wins that round. Then move on to the other team!

Treasure Hunt

The treasure hunt is an interesting and fun game. Your children should be a little older to play this game. You can choose a theme that your kids would like. It could be dinosaurs, jungle, carnival, tv shows, Disney or anything for that matter. Then, plan your clues. Plan it in such a way where they could only get their next clue when they find their first clue. Other than clues, you also need to plan where to hide the treasures and what the treasures are. Prizes could include candies, pencils, glowsticks, sports tickets, coins and etc.

Skit Night

Skit night is fun to be played with the entire family. If you have a big family, you could divide yourselves into two teams and plan a skit. It could be a movie enactment or it could be a story you and your team create. What’s fun about skits are the props! Use your creativity and use all the props and outfits you have at home to actually create a proper skit. Finally, when the skit is over, take a vote of how many prefer which skit. The loser could be the one who does the chores the next day or has to cook. You could pick your own prize or tasks!
