5 Ways to Cure “Hangover Skin” (And That Headache!)

Categories : Uncategorized, Wellness

Had one too many holiday cocktails? You feel it, and your skin shows it. Here’s how to treat “hangover skin” and the general misery you’ll feel when you wake up the next day.

Drink lots of water

According to Dr. Sandra Lee (better known as Dr. Pimple Popper) alcohol lowers your body’s antidiuretic hormone (ADH) which regulates the water in your blood. That’s why you’re so thirsty during a hungover, and why your skin feels so dry.

Next time you drink, alternate each glass of alcohol with alcohol, and load up on water the next day. Treat your skin to a hydrating sheet mask.

Eat red, green and yellow fruits vegetables

No, greasy french fries doesn’t count. Alcohol lowers your Vitamin A levels, which you need for a healthy glow. The easiest way to get lots of it into into your system is to make a smoothie. Best fruits: papaya, mango, carrots, and kale.

Add a couple of cucumbers, too: it has a high water content and can replace your body’s potassium and electrolytes.

Rub an ice cube on your face

The alcohol dilates your blood vessels, which is why your skin looks red when you drink. Cool down with a cold compress. You can either rub an ice cube or soak a small towel in ice water and press against your face.

There’s a sheet mask for that!

Keep these sheet masks in the refrigerator for those morning afters. You can then hydrate and moisturize your skin while removing the redness. And it feels so good when you have a headache! Apply a soothing eye mask

Alcohol with mess up with the blood vessels under the eyes, which is why your dark circles look worse and your eyes look bloodshot. You need a cold eye mask, or an eye cream with a rolling ball applicator that can help cool and soothe the area and reduce any puffiness. Try Garnier Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller.
