Which natural perm do I choose?
There are various types of perm techniques that can help you to achieve natural-looking waves. With so many different styles available in hair salons, it can be quite overwhelming to pick a perm that’s most suitable for your hair type. To help you on your quest for fuss-free waves, here are the different types of natural perm techniques that will give you natural-looking curls.
Root volume perm
If you tend to have hair that sits flat on top, then you might want to consider a root volume perm. Essentially, it is a perm that focuses on creating lift and volume right at the roots of your hair. Hence, your hair stylist will only add curlers as close to your crown as possible to give your roots a boost of volume and height. Alternatively, the same can be done for the ends of your hair if you’re looking to add a subtle curl for a natural look.
Rebonding perm
Next, we have a rebonding perm which incorporates both rebonding and perming techniques into one treatment. Thus, the rebonding perm is especially good for those with frizzy hair looking to tame frizz and create polished-looking waves. First, the treatment kicks off with the application of a straightening solution from the roots to the section that you want the curls to start. Then, your hairstylist will use a flat iron to reshape your hair before applying a neutralizer and washing out any product residue. Finally, the treatment ends with a digital perm to create loose and effortless curls.
S-curl or C-curl rebonding
Like their names suggest, these perming techniques help to give your hair a S or C wave that flows beautifully and looks ultra natural. Although some of the techniques they apply are similar to that of a rebonding perm, the results are different in terms of shape and direction. First, the S-curl is best suited for longer hair below the shoulders. Additionally, it also incorporates more tightly-wound curls and layers for extra volume and texture. On the other hand, a C-curl is more suitable for shorter hair as it uses inward curls to create a soft bob effect.
Korean perm
Fancy looking like your favourite K-drama actress or K-pop star? Then check out the Korean wave perm! Although it involves using a cold perm that creates extra volume and definition, it still retains an effortless flow and natural movement. While it does look natural, you can still amplify the drama by adding a diffuser attachment to your hairdryer.
Japanese perm

On top of natural-looking waves, this look is all about creating fuss-free texture that’s great for everyday styling. Similar to the Korean wave perm, the Japanese perm uses a cold perm technique to create soft and airy textured curls.
