Lights. camera, makeup! This past weekend at Capitol Theatre saw faces (and bodies) transform at the hands of 55 talented students from the Diploma in Professional Makeup Artistry at Cosmoprof Academy in Singapore. This is Singapore’s largest makeup artist event. The diverse looks and flurry of activity was a sight to behold as guests and judges alike were wowed by the talent presented.
This prestigious makeup competition that has been running for over 30 years. Moreover, it is a great platform for students from Cosmoprof Academy to participate in. The showcase highlighted the talents and imagination of their students. They competed in three categories; Bridal, Fashion and Body Art/Special Effects, transporting guests to new worlds far beyond their imagination.
Mdm Lily Leong, Vice Principal and long time judge of the Cosmoprof Academy Makeup Artists Awards explained that the makeup artists up their game every year, “It seems as if they come up with newer looks every year and we are very impressed with their level of commitment.”
Body Art/Special Effects
The spectacular winners of the Body Art/Special Effects category were Ms Shaynne Ng and Ms Li Li Juan who created a blue sea creature akin to that of the Brothers Grimm version of the Disney Classic, the Little Mermaid. Their head-to-toe masterpiece left no piece of flesh unaltered as their model truly transformed into something from another realm.
Ms Carrine Leong delivered a glamorous bridal look and found herself the winner of the Bridal category. With bold eyebrows and a hair curl to die for, her bridal look stood out instantly from over 26 bridal looks. In fact, the Bridal category was the largest category in the competition, therefore, the hardest to win. There was a mix of traditional brides, modern looks and high concept bridal make overs.
The Fashion category was definitely one that stirred the excitement of both young and old in the crowd. It saw the likes of runway ready gowns and makeup looks with avant-garde concepts and the catwalk to match! The crowd came alive as models strutted the catwalk with bold and beautiful looks and the confidence to match. The winner, Ms Iryanti stood out with her statement making makeup look and model to match.
