The award-winning So SPA is housed within the former barracks of a military complex that the British Army occupied on Sentosa from the 1880s to the 1930s. After falling into disrepair, the building underwent major restoration in the early 2000s. On 14 May 2004, Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority gave conservation status to 16 buildings on the island, including the one occupied by So SPA today.
