Shay Mitchell—the famous actress from the award-winning tv series, Pretty Little Liars—is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and beautiful women we ever laid our eyes on. Not only that, we always wonder how she managed to keep those abs in check even after safely delivering her baby girl early last year. Everything that Shay Mitchell owns—her face, her body, her hair, her house, her wardrobe and her man—we wish we could have them all, too

Anyway, forget about the latter, let’s focus on how we can get the same exact figura that this mixed-blood woman has. Surprisingly, Shay Mitchell’s fitness journey is quite, pretty relatable for us normal human-beings. The mother of one opened up about her dietary journey and it’s something that everyone (especially new mothers) can connect with. She revealed on Instagram that she actually made a vow at the start of 2021 to embark further on her fitness journey after allowing her 2020-self to indulge in ‘’laziness’’ and ease around the house. Hm, relatable. Attaching the photos to her post, she shared jaw-dropping before and after photos, and yes, the results speak for themselves. 

Shay even explained that the reason why she started to focus more on fitness is because she wanted her daughter to see her in the best state—highlighting the fact that being a mother isn’t such an easy task to do. Agree!  “2020 was the year of searching for something to make us feel good. Not even good…to feel fine. Feel ‘normal…’,” she sealed the caption. Eat More Fruits And Veggie

According to this 31-year-old beauty, she said it is never easy for her to keep her diet balance in check. Because of her super duper busy schedule, sometimes she’ll just end up with fast food, greasy foods and carbs to satisfy her craving. Now, Shay tries to stay away from all those kinds of foods and instead opt for more greens and leafs. In a video she posted on Instagram, Shay brought her millions of fans into her kitchen tour session and then later proceeded to show what she’s preparing for dinner. In the video, she explained that ‘’rainbow salad’’ has slowly become her meal of choice at night. The respective ‘’rainbow salad’’ featured a mix of spinach, tomatoes, chickpeas and salad. And due to her overflowing love for pizza (relatable!), she even finds her way to put a healthy twist into the tempting rounded crust. Instead of layering the round shaped food with pepperoni, she replaced them with mushrooms, cheese and basil leaf, with a hint of broccoli. Shay also said that she will eat one fresh fruit as her breakfast—it is much healthier than those buttery pancakes that we’ve always gone for. 

Resistance Training 

I have always hated it when Shay Mitched posted a picture of her in a two piece bikini, lounging around by her pool, looking more sculpted than ever. But hey, I guess that’s a good thing because it motivates me to train better, right? As any new-mother would experience, Shay shared that ever since she gained maternity weight, she’d always promised herself to get her old body back in shape. And boy, did she do it. Right after her maternity leave weeks, Shay Mitchell waited no time and began her fitness with OpenFit, a digital fitness and nutrition platform, a brand that she co-partner with. Her go-to plan is the ‘’4 Weeks Of Focus’’, where she will dedicate at least 30 minutes every session, five days a week, for four weeks straight. That’s a month in total. Shay’s personal choice is none other than the HIgh Intensity Interval Training, where it involves a lot of movement, sweats and equipment. What’s good about the app is that they allow you to choose based on your personal choice and level of fitness—yoga, pilates, boxing and more. 

Her Cheat Meal 

And as much as she wanted to stick to her fairly healthy diet plan, Shay said sometimes she can’t help but to go for a cheat day and eat all of her choice of comfort foods that she wants in a day. Consider it as a reward for her achievement. Repeatedly confessing pizza as her go-to food, she also enjoys other dairy products such as ice creams, Rice Krispies, Bahn Mi and tacos. She also revealed that she once developed an unhealthy obsession over pineapple chips which tasted sweet. She even stated that she doesn’t believe in the concept of cutting off a certain diet. Finding the right balance to minimize the intakes of certain foods is better than throwing them off completely off your diet charts. She said, I hate that; I hardly ever diet. I think it is just about making smart choices when you can’t get a workout in.’’
