Orchids have quite a lot of therapeutic qualities and Singapore itself has many Native Orchids that have therapeutic benefits. In Asian herbal medicine, orchids are used regularly to heal and nourish, including managing trauma, diseases, and pain. Most of Asia has always turned to orchids for medicine and since WWII, scientists have searched for alkaloids in plants. Finding up to 1750 orchid species that provide benefits, interphase between science and tradition is being witnessed by CTM. Many traditional orchids have shown to contain a wide range of pharmacological effects including acting against malaria parasites. Extracts of orchids have also shown to help protect the liver and skin, even alkaloids that help kill cancer cells.
