After releasing launching his Blood Lush Collection, Jeffree Star has revealed his latest eyeshadow palette which is called “Cremated. After the launch of the packaging on Instagram on Friday, Jeffree Star shared a picture of the shades in the palette. Little did the celebrity know that it would cause some frenzy among his friends!
However, to be fair to him, we kinda did have the hunch that he was about to drop a new collection as he announced the reveal video will be on his YouTube channel on Saturday. Star also gave us a teaser mentioning “If you love rainbow colours, this palette isn’t for you”.
When we saw the palette, it was very grey. Well, he wasn’t lying about it. He mentions in his caption:
“Introducing the #CREMATED eyeshadow palette & collection!!!! This one of a kind spooky @jeffreestarcosmetics 24 pan gothic dream will wake up the makeup world! The FULL reveal video will be on my channel TOMORROW morning!!!! Get ready to be deceased. Extreme payoff. 🕊 With our iconic mattes & new extreme sparkle metallic formula.”
While goth-lover are hyped about this palette, a lot were also very vocal about this new palette called “Cremated” being launched during a global pandemic which has already killed hundreds and thousands of people all over world.
In Jeffree’s defense, he explained that this collection was initially planned to be launched in April, but because of the coronavirus, the launch was also postponed. Hence, it goes without saying that this launch was carefully planned many months in advance, even before the lockdown all over.
Some of the comments by fans who were not pleased were:
“This seems kinda tacky considering the rise of deaths around the world related to the pandemic… Don’t come for me!”
“Whoa. This theme doesn’t seem like very good timing..”
“All things considered… The name of this palette is tone deaf.”
“My grandma had to be cremated after she died from Covid. This seems like bad timing for such a product,”
“Um wtf people are being CREMATED because the mortuaries have run out of space. Bad timing. This could have waited until thousands aren’t dying daily.smfh.”
“The timing is badddd. I love jeffree but the timing is bad considering 1) not a lot of ppl can buy or afford makeup 2) it’s called cremated, regardless of when the name was created the name is in bad taste and poorly timed.”
On the other hand, there are many others who loved the palette and came to his defence like:
“I wanna remove of of the pans and live inside this palette instead urgh wow”.
“People complaining about the name of the new @JeffreeStar collection, it’s not that deep… Yes we’re in a pandemic but he named it forever ago and can’t change packaging in a moment’s notice,”
