Let’s admit it, one of the best things from k-dramas other than the exciting plot, spicy romance and witty comedy scenes is definitely the character’s style. From lavish styles, pretty makeup looks and of course- we have to appreciate the hairstyles in k-dramas. We’ve all gone to the hair salon at one point with a heroine’s hairstyle as a reference to what we want. With that, today, Beauty Insider is listing out the hairstyles from k-drama heroines that you should definitely try out!

1. Song Hye-Kyo (Encounter)

We’re always used to seeing this starlet on the secret with beautiful long hair down which always makes her look effortlessly gorgeous. However, with Encounter, Song Hye-Kyo rocks the bob with straight cut bangs that transition to face frames- length just at the base of her neck. She’s often seen pushing her front strands behind her ears which provides a mature and sophisticated appearance.

2. Park Shin-Hye (Memories Of The Alhambra)

Memories of Alhambra was a major hit when it was released and other than hottie Hyun Bin- all eyes were on Park Shin-Hye. Other than her gorgeous looks served, she always rocks beautifully rounded layers in almost all her dramas. Thus, making it her signature hairstyle. If you’re thinking of recreating this style, don’t forget to put on a hooded cape and grab your guitar to really play the role (LOL)!

3. Park Min Young (What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?)

Sometimes, not all of us are blessed with thick, fluffy hair and we often are unsure of how to style them. However, beautiful Park Min Young provides multiple styles that many can take notes on. When she’s in secretary Kim Mi-so mode, she parts her hair in half and ties it up high with a single face frame piece hanging loose. This not only provides definition and dimension but also gives thin hair as much texture as it can since it naturally does lack in it.

4. Bae Suzy (Start-Up)

Gotta love them rollers! Bae Suzy in Start-Up is one of my newest favourite styles to mimic. The first thing your eyes are drawn to is the straight, see-through bangs that provide sweetness to your appearance. She’s seen in the drama using rollers as many Koreans do with their bangs. Then, with claw clips, pull your hair back to create a loose, pretty look.

5. Jung Ho-Yeon (Squid Game)

Squid Game is undeniably the biggest k-drama of 2021 and with it, we were introduced to Jung Ho-Yeon’s character’s iconic short hair. Her hair is wavy with longish bangs to create a mysterious, ominous appearance. To achieve this look, blow dry with a barrel hairbrush and finish your tips with a curler. With the popularity of the show and the massive fan base that is growing; don’t be surprised if many start rocking this do.

6. Jun Ji-Hyun (Legend of the Blue Sea)

Calling all mermaid fans, this is the style our favourite mermaid rocks out. Jun Ji-Hyun is seen with this effortlessly beautiful style that looks amazing on anybody. I do this style all the time when I want to have a subtle “I want to look cute but make it bare minimum”. Simply blow dry with a barrel brush down and outwards, giving a bit more heat to the ends to create soft curls at the tips.

7. IU (Hotel Del Luna)

We can’t make a list about style and hair for not just iconic k-dramas but all shows if we don’t talk about Hotel Del Luna. Many fans note the highlight of the k-drama hands-down goes to IU’s character Jang Man-Wol for her extravagant fashion styles, statement piece accessories and beautiful locks. She’s often sporting a straightened, clean look or loose French braids that are tied back. Regardless, every hairstyles she pulls in this k-drama is a winner to rock.

8. Son Ye-Jin (Crash Landing On You)

Crash Landing On You is definitely up there in our top 10 iconic romance k-dramas. Son Ye-Jin plays heiress Yoon Se-Ri who although known more for her gorgeous fashion sense also has absolutely beautiful hairstyles in this k-drama. She’s most notably known to rock a side part blowout with one side tucked behind her ear. Try out this style and you might just score a hot captain boyfriend while you’re at it.

9. Gong Hyo-Jin (When The Camellia Blooms)

When The Camellia Blooms had us swooning with its romantic plot and flare of family love. However, we have to talk about Gong Hyo-Jin’s supermom character Oh Dong-Baek. She’s often sporting her hair down and her curtain bangs loose but she enjoys putting in small clips tucked back for a delicate upkeep look.

10. Kim Yoo-Jung (Red Sky)

When we tell you we’re obsessed with this traditional Korean look, we truly are. There’s just something about how clean and elegant Kim Yoo-Jung’s Hong Cheon-Gi hairstyles is throughout the k-drama. This look looks tricky but is essentially loose French braids that are tied with a normal braid to end it. Although this is a more traditional look, you can try this look for any occasion.
