Real talk: the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) community is still defined as less than equal members of society from the presence of Section 377A in Singapore law. Although pride month is over, it by no means us halting the support of LGBTQ rights. We’re turning to pride makeup as a showcase of visible support of LGBTQ+ people — because visibility is fundamental.

Although people may have restricted freedom to express one’s LGBTQ rights, expressive makeup can act as a catalyst to communicate that unconditional love in public. It’s a non-verbal conversation tool, and it’s powerful. The rainbow symbol continues as the primary representation and we’re highlighting these talented beauty gurus. Not only do we get to learn from these Youtube beauty vloggers, but we can help show support and celebrate the men and women who aren’t ashamed to embrace and share what they love (and whom).

Our favourites, of course, is the artistic and stunning makeup looks flooding our Instagram feeds right now. For those of you who want to revel in a little colourful creativity, we’ve collected a few inspiring looks we think are powerfully feminine, willfully strong, and pride-friendly.

When it comes to makeup, there’s always space to inject a more hidden message in your looks that hits a personal sweet spot. And while the possibilities are boundless, sometimes, a little rainbow sparkle on the face means more than meets the eye.

Looks like donning a rainbow flag on your lids or cheeks can be just the perfect level of self-expression that both exhibits support for, and rejoices LGBTQ rights. These makeup guru stunners have introduced a much-needed dose of colour into our lives. We’re not sure what the future holds about the repeal of 377A, but past making your makeup a little more fun, these rainbow colours also symbolises something so much bigger.
