Then we’re obsessed with complicated techniques of eyeshadow blending, triple colors cut crease, stocking up eyeshadow pallets and the list goes on. However, it’s all long gone now because single-color eyeshadow is back and a new makeup trend!

From celebs to influencers, they have been rocking the single-color eyeshadow makeup, especially during the latest Golden Globe Awards. You may have likely seen the neon pink eyeshadow makeup that Nicola  Coughlan was seen wearing. Yes, the Bridgerton darling looked stunning!  Wondering how to get a similar look? Beauty Insider has gathered all the essential information that you need to master the single-color eyeshadow techniques.

How to Apply a Single-Color Eyeshadow?

Firstly, apply an eye primer on your eyelid to helps the eyeshadow stay in place. You can use your finger, q tip, or even a brush for even application. Then choose the eyeshadow your choice, you can opt for a neutral shade or even a bold color based on your preference. Afterward, pick a soft eyeshadow brush and apply it to your eyelid. Avoid applying the eyeshadow past the inner corner of the eyelid or extend towards the temple.

Blend the eyeshadow on your crease towards the brow bone using a clean brush. Make sure to blend it along with the eye socket, starting from the inner corner of the eye to the end of the brow. Then finish it off with eyeliner of your choice and mascara.

How to Choose the Best Neutral Eyeshadow?

If you’re going for neutral eyeshadow makeup, it’s important that you choose an eyeshadow color that suits your skin tone. Especially for people with fair to light tone, it is recommended that you opt for flesh tone Peach or pink eyeshadow.

However, if you have medium to dark skin tones, caramel, and soft brown eyeshadow will help to enhance your features. The rule of thumb is that the color of the eyeshadow needs to be slightly dark than your skin tone and suits the undertone as well.

How to Recreate Nicola Coughlan’s Single-Color Eyeshadow Makeup

Neil Young used the Kryolan Aqua Colour paint in UV Pink as a base for the star-studded event. However, you can opt for an eyeshadow primer or even concealer for a similar effect. We suggest the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as an alternative if you could not get your hands on the Kryolan Aqua Colour paint.

Then he applied the MAC Neon Pink Pigment for intensity. You can choose any bright pink eyeshadow as a substitute. He only applied it to the upper of the eyelid and he finishes the eye makeup look with the Volume Disturbia Volume & Curve Mascara by Givenchy.
