The story behind Mediphyt

Taking one step further, Mediphyt’s skincare essentials go beyond temporary fixes and superficial solutions. By focusing instead on the root causes of underlying skin concerns, Mediphyt’s skincare solutions serve to restore, heal and protect your skin for the long haul. For over 20 years, their USA-based research team has been studying extensively about the science of skin health and the skin’s healing systems. As such, their findings have been instrumental in the development and formulation of their botanical extracts and active ingredients.

The technology

With over 100 years worth of experience formulating revolutionary skincare solutions, the Research and Innovation Team at Mediphyt has come up with various technologies to optimize the efficacy of their products. First, there is the incorporation of advanced Nano-technology to improve the stabilization and efficacy of active ingredients. On one hand, Nano-encapsulation protects the actives from rapid degeneration. And on the other, Nano-emulsion technology serves to improve the delivery and absorption of these active ingredients. Additionally, Mediphyt’s Cacit-151 technology integrates both nature and science by combining botanical extracts, vitamins and clinical-grade active ingredients in their formulations. Overall, each product is specially formulated to effectively cleanse, prepare, correct, protect and repair the skin to stimulate the skin’s natural healing process.

Effective botanical and clinical-grade active ingredients

With the aid of advanced Nano technology, these ingredients are an integral part of Mediphyt’s product formulations.

Willow bark extract

First up, we have willow bark extract. Also known as salicylic acid, willow bark extract is a beta hydroxy acid that is popular in anti-acne skincare treatments. Besides helping to gently exfoliate the skin, it also helps to regulate sebum production and minimize the appearance of enlarged pores. As it also contains natural antibacterial properties, it is great for combatting acne-causing bacteria and keeping breakouts under control.

Alpha arbutin

Next, we have alpha arbutin which is rich in antioxidants. Typically found in fruits like cranberries and blueberries, alpha arbutin has natural sun protection and skin brightening properties. Because of its high level of antioxidants, it is an effective ingredient for reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and acne scars. Plus, alpha arbutin can also prevent the skin from sunburn by inhibiting the production of tyrosinase. Essentially, tyrosinase is a copper-filled enzyme in our tissues that triggers melanin production via an oxidation process. Hence, by inhibiting this process we are able to minimize the risk of sun damage to our skin.

Niacinamide

Also known as nicotinamide, niacinamide is a significant form of Vitamin B3 (niacin). Typically, niacinamide is present in foods like fish, poultry, eggs, milk and leafy greens. Since it contains skin-soothing benefits, it is great for managing skin conditions like rosacea, eczema and acne. Moreover, topical application of Vitamin B3 helps to protect your skin from free radical damage. At the same time, it encourages the natural production of ceramides to fortify your skin’s barrier over time.

Ceramide 3

Since we are on the subject of ceramides, let’s talk about one of Mediphyt’s key ingredients – ceramide 3. But before we do, let’s take a look at what ceramides actually are. In essence, ceramides are fat molecules (lipids) naturally found in our skin barrier. They basically help our skin to retain moisture and prevent dehydration. So what happens when our skin loses ceramides due to age and environmental damage? The result is an impaired skin barrier that’s prone to dryness and irritation. Therefore, this is where the topical application of ceramides can help to lock in moisture and improve the skin’s barrier function. Ceramide 3 is particularly effective at relieving dry skin and preventing transepidermal water loss.

Retinol

Now let’s talk about one of the most popular anti-ageing ingredients in the beauty community – retinol. Also known as topical Vitamin A, retinol contains potent anti-acne and skin renewing benefits. Fundamentally, topical Vitamin A helps to accelerate cell turnover and draw out impurities from the deeper layers of the epidermis. Plus, it also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the surface layers of the skin. As a result, the skin texture looks smoother and more refined. However, when using a topical Vitamin A always remember to exfoliate regularly to make way for the fresh new cells underneath.

Vitamin E

Scientifically known as tocopheryl acetate, Vitamin E is commonly found in vegetables, avocados and omega-rich nuts and seeds. Because of its rich antioxidant properties, Vitamin E is great for combatting UV and free radical damage and reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

Hyaluronic acid

Next, we have moisture magnet hyaluronic acid. Due to its humectant properties, hyaluronic acid has the ability to draw moisture into the skin. Besides plumping up the skin with moisture, it also helps to balance oil and moisture levels and fortify the skin’s moisture barrier to keep dryness at bay.

L-ascorbic

Finally, Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid is one of the key ingredients found in Mediphyt’s award-winning Perfect Clear Whitening Essence. Vitamin C is well-known for its powerful antioxidant and skin-brightening benefits. Besides protecting the skin from UV and free radical damage, Vitamin C also helps to put a brake on melanin production to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation.
