— Correct, protect, flourish.

I snagged the Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover Cream SPF 40 alongside the Dr.Jart+ Calming Cicapair Gel Cream during last year’s festive season – I got the festive bundle package. The duo came in different sizes, with the gel cream came in the full size and the other in a smaller size -this one(15ml).

No complaints here — I consider it a savvy purchase, especially as we’re gearing up, or should I say, gently revving our engines for the Christmas season. If you’re keen, perhaps shimmy your way to Sephora for this delightful combo package.

Now, to the nitty-gritty. I’ve always been a fan of Dr. Jart+’s formulas. True to their claims, their products are soothing and gentle on the skin. I’ve noticed that this particular gem gives me a radiant effect and keeps my skin hydrated all day long. It’s become a trusty guardian, offering a robust defence against those pesky UV rays.

What I Discovered About The Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover Cream SPF 40

The Dr. JART+ Cicapair Re-Cover Cream is a colour-correcting treatment, shifting from green to beige. It conceals redness while nurturing and safeguarding sensitive or stressed skin.

The formula includes Centella Asiatica to soothe the skin, fortify the skin barrier, and it even has essential minerals (sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium) to enhance moisture levels, which revitalises tired skin for a healthier look.

Inspired by Asian Tigers

Taking inspiration from legendary Asian tigers, the Cicapair™ Collection mirrors their healing ritual with Centella Asiatica, known as tiger grass.

Renowned for centuries for its medicinal properties, this active ingredient serves as a centuries-old recovery system. Dr. Jart+’s Cicapair™ collection, the pinnacle of cica skincare, harnesses the power of tiger grass from Asian wetlands.

It effectively soothes and calms sensitive skin, eliminating any redness in the process. The range includes exclusive lab-tested cica skincare products not found elsewhere.

What I Think About The Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover Cream SPF 40

Coverage

[L-R] Before and after apply Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover Cream SPF 40

This green cream works its magic, effortlessly shifting to beige wherever you choose to apply it. I see it as my sunscreen buddy, armed with SPF40, a trusty shield against the relentless Singaporean sun and the constant AC chill at work.

While it won’t entirely cloak larger spots or old acne tales, it bestows a radiant lift, especially on higher areas of the face like the cheeks and around the nose. One application, and my skin hasn’t looked this good in ages – seriously, I’m impressed. Plus, it’s delightfully lightweight.

Thanks to the green touch in the Re-Cover Cream, you get a lovely, ‘natural’ coverage, with an extra knack for hiding redness. Sure, you can add makeup on top, but honestly, I reckon it shines best on its own. I just love it as it is.

Texture

While my skin is more of the combination type, I find this cream incredibly soothing. It not only boosts my confidence but also tends to my skin by providing a good amount of hydration and nourishment.

Now, your lipid or moisture barrier, the outermost skin layer, is a mix of skin cells, moisture, and ‘fats’ (lipids).

This, I reckon, is why the Cicapair Re-Cover Cream rocks that thick green cream texture — it blankets your face, offering a sense of ‘protection,’ keeping potential irritants at bay! And we absolutely stan a product that delivers on that front!

Let’s Talk About The SPF40

I’ve got a soft spot for sunscreens, I really do. Let’s dive into the perks of this one.

Maybe it’s the cream’s pale muted green hue, but its texture reminds me of a clay mask — thick, yet easily spreadable. The thickness is likely due to the mineral sunscreen, zinc oxide, boasting an impressive SPF protection of 40.

This sunscreen superhero shields with a mineral-based UV blocker. Despite its thickness, it’s remarkably soothing and gentle on sensitive skin. This UV protection is crucial for sensitised skin that’s prone to photo-sensitivity (when your skin becomes extra sensitive to UV rays).

As you apply and blend the cream, it forms a protective layer on your skin. It won’t vanish or seamlessly sink in; you’ll feel it. But fear not, as long as you don’t go overboard (I use a tiny bean-sized amount for my entire face), the green tint fades away, and the cream won’t feel heavy or makeup-like at all!

Pale Green Colour

Cream texture

The Re-Cover cream’s pale green tint transforms to a light beige upon application, maintaining its subtle green undertone that effectively counteracts redness.

However, it’s worth noting that the beige tone leans towards the ‘pale’ side, possibly influenced by the zinc oxide in the formula, which tends to have a white-ish cast.

Consequently, I’d hesitate to recommend the beige shade for those with darker skin tones. It might suit pale to medium skin tones, but it’s likely to appear too light for any darker shades in my opinion.

Does The Cream Really Tackle Sensitivity?

Applying it feels like a comforting hug — soothing and protective. There’s something about its texture that just hits the right notes.

For those with very sensitive or sensitive skin, I get it – you’re all about shielding your skin and rebuilding that lipid barrier, allowing your skin to focus on healing and rebalancing.

The Re-Cover Cream is like a guardian, forming a shield between your skin and the world so it can do its healing dance undisturbed. Wearing it, my skin doesn’t feel like it’s about to stage a ‘burning up’ protest during the day — solid proof it’s doing a stellar job.

Most importantly, my skin just feels downright comfy. If you manage to make your sensitive, sore skin feel comfy, you’re onto a winner!

Skin Inflammation and Acne-Prone Skin

The Cicapair Re-Cover Cream is a blend of goodness with ingredients like tiger grass, panthenol, niacinamide, and yarrow root oil. These soothers not only provide instant relief but also wage a long-term battle against skin inflammation.

Now, acne-prone skin, often rocking the red and almost swollen look thanks to inflammation, gets a reliable ally in the Re-Cover Cream. It’s not just covering the redness; it’s in the game of healing those breakouts too. A real superhero for the sensitive-skin squad.

Hydration

Let’s dive into hydration, a crucial topic because, well, the Re-Cover Cream is a moisturiser, right?

The cream’s texture and mission is to ‘shield’ the skin with a top-layer barrier while offering soothing vibes. Truth be told, I don’t find the cream to be a heavyweight in the moisturising or hydrating department. Now, this isn’t a massive issue given the cream’s design and purpose, but it’s worth noting.

Sure, the cream packs hydrating players like glycerin and niacinamide, but a chunk of the ingredients opts for an occlusive approach (they trap existing moisture in your skin, preventing it from making an escape).

This means if your skin leans towards being very dry (thirsty for oils) or dehydrated (craving water), the cream might not be the hydration hero you’re looking for.

My suggestion? Bring in a hydrating serum or a lightweight moisturiser underneath. This ensures your skin stays well-hydrated, avoiding the pitfalls of dehydration that can heighten sensitivity.

However, for the long haul, your skin might yearn for a little extra — something worth considering. Remember, every skin type, even our friends dealing with acne and excess oil, craves hydration!

Would I Recommend This Product?

Would I nudge you toward Dr Jart’s Cicapair Re-Cover Cream SPF40 as your daily BB cream for those sensitive, red, and blotchy skin days?

Absolutely! Beyond the hug of skin-loving and soothing ingredients, this cream brings a solid SPF game (gentle on the irritation), kicks redness to the curb, and offers some coverage.

That’s a win in my book! Sure, the cream’s texture might play hard to get initially, but once you figure it out, you can slap it on in the morning real quick and head out — easy peasy!
