What I Love About This Product

First Thoughts

As I delved into my quest for the perfect skincare product, I yearned for something that would effortlessly blend into my daily routine and accompany me on my outings, shielding my skin while eradicating any traces of dullness.

Amidst a sea of other contenders, one product stood out, capturing my attention with its irresistible purple packaging – cute and adorned with camera emojis all over. The Japanese text might have been unfamiliar, but the message was crystal clear.

The enchanting purple hue suggested it was tinted sunscreen, while the camera emblem promised a “picture-perfect” look, hinting at skin-enhancing wonders within. Just like trusty purple blushers to balance my skin tone and banish dullness, all while donning an impressive SPF50+ PA++++ sun protection factor – truly a winner in every sense.

With everything checked all the boxes, I delved into further research about this alluring find for more clarification. Convinced of its potential, I made the decision to welcome it into my skincare arsenal, hopeful that it would deliver on its promises and offer my skin the radiant glow it truly deserves.

♬ Chill Vibes – Tollan Kim

It has a texture that falls somewhere between a gel and a watery consistency – not too dense nor too liquidy. Upon the first squeeze, you’ll notice the beautiful pastel purple sunscreen, which has a mild fragrance akin to typical cosmetic products. It’s not heavily scented, making it suitable for those who are senstive to strong fragrances.

The water-resistance is evident, almost like how you can feel the thickness of a sports sunscreen,  as you might feel a slight, almost imperceptible heaviness in its texture.

Effectiveness

It does indeed improve my overall complexion, keeping my skin moisturised and protected from harmful UV rays and environmental factors. While it may not provide an instantly picture-ready look as claimed, it does offer some noticeable benefits. The effectiveness of its brightening effects, thanks to its strobe pearl powder, is quite apparent, but I must say it’s not overly dramatic when worn on its own.

Now, when it comes to brightening and eliminating dullness, this product really shines as an excellent enhancer when used as a primer. Applying this tinted sunscreen as a primer elevates the outcome of my makeup, even with just foundation and blush for that perfectly natural-looking look. Not only does my makeup last longer, but it also protects my skin while giving it a radiant boost.

After two weeks of regular use, I’ve observed visible improvements in my skin, with a naturally brightened effect. It seems this product works best as a gradual build-up, subtly enhancing my skin’s appearance. All in all, it’s a wonderful product well worth considering!

Non-Greasy, and Ultra-lightweight

It’s proven to be non-greasy, but I must admit I was quite taken aback by the claim of it being ‘ultra’-lightweight. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely lightweight, but ‘ultra’? Maybe I don’t feel it because I have tried another product that is more lightweight. Let’s compare it to Biore UV Sunscreen Protect Milk SPF50+, which only claims to be lightweight; I must say the latter feels even lighter than this one.

As I gently spread it onto my face, there’s a hint of initial heaviness and white cast on my skin initially, but fear not, it gradually sheds that sensation, and voilà! No greasiness at all! Within seconds, it’s as if I’ve got nothing on my skin, leaving it clear and oh-so-radiant. I must say, it’s quite a delightful experience!

Overall Review of the Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence SPF50+ PA ++++

On the whole, I am thoroughly satisfied with this tinted sunscreen. I love how it enhances my overall complexion, making it an excellent product to use as a primer or base. The purple tint effectively eradicates dullness, while its nourishing ingredients keep my skin supple and well-hydrated. Additionally, it’s non-greasy, providing a comfortable, all-day wear experience.

The price is slightly on the higher side, but only marginally so. If you happen to find it on sale at your local drugstore, I highly recommend grabbing it. However, if not, it might be worth exploring other options and comparing before adding it to your cart. While this is undoubtedly a fantastic product, you may find similar alternatives at more affordable prices.

One drawback is that it does leave a white cast, although it’s not overly prominent and tends to neutralise over time. It does give the sensation of not wearing any product on your skin, but I have come across other products that are even more lightweight in comparison. Nonetheless, apart from that, it does deliver on its claims.

I have no complaints about its ability to guard my skin from UV rays and harmful environmental factors. It provides perfect protection and lives up to its water-resistant claim, meaning you won’t need to reapply it frequently. If you aren’t engaging in heavy sweating or intense sports activities, this is an ideal choice. Even for sports, it serves as a reliable backup option when you don’t want to opt for a higher SPF.
