For the past three years, we have seen a different kind of beauty trend emerge from the Land of Morning Calm. It all started with Glass skin, followed by snail mucin and bee venom—and if all of that is still not enough to pull you into the belief of how important rejuvenating skin cares are in Korean, let me introduce you to; Donkey milk. Yup they’re packed in protein and fatty acids that have been proven to keep those elastin in tack.

But let’s face it, K-Beauty is everywhere. Even the simple technique of wearing a sheet mask everyday is actually a part of the K-Beauty hype. Here’s a little fact, according to Allied Market research, they believe that by the end of 2026, the K-Beauty market’s stock will be worth almost $21 billion, worldwide. Not only that, according to Google itself, during the whole coronavirus pandemic situation, they saw a rise of K-Beauty consumer searches compared to others in total cumulative to 1:5. Seriously, jaw dropping.

And best believe that the K-Beauty phenomena won’t slow down anytime soon, let alone put an end to it—if anything, they would keep on growing and creating new cultural impact around the world. And as claimed by Jenni Middleton, director of beauty at trend forecasting company WGSN, she said you can expect a few minimalist trends from the K-beauty in the forthcoming. Below, Beauty Insider brings 5 K-Beauty trends you can look forward to.

Acid Layering

Acid layering has long been in the game of K-Beauty trends but somehow the hype started to die down over the years, and now, Jenni said, it will make a comeback because most beauty cosmetics start to actively launch and prioritize acid-based products into their latest collection. One of them being Glossier, The Ordinary and other. For this trend, the key is to use the right balance of AHAs and BHAs, also known as plant and animal-derived acids. They work wonders in gently exfoliating dead skin cells, and smooth skin texture. Remember, it’s not about coating an excessive amount of acid right on top of your skin but rather a gentle one with minimal effort. Less is truly more.

Carrot Seed Oil

Talk about plant-derived acid, you can expect to see Carrot Seed Oil trend everywhere next season. So, why carrot seed oil? Because they heavily contain Vitamin A and act as a great antioxidant property. Check this out; carrot seed oil is literally everything that everyone ever wished for. The amount of skin boosting elements contained inside them are insane. They’re anti aging, antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It’s an ideal solution if you’re looking to fix your dull and uneven appearance. Imagine if we incorporate them into our beauty routine every single day? What a flawless result we’ll be getting. So stay tuned for carrot seed oil, they will rapidly take over the beauty world in a blink of an eye.

Centella Asiatica

If you haven’t heard of Centella Asiatica, seriously, where have you been your whole life? Most clean and vegan cosmetic brands swear by this plant based. Centella Asiatica is a herb most likely to be found in Asia countries. They’re known for their ability to treat sensitive skin, due to its an-inflammatory properties. And since everyone’s been dealing with a stress, fouly environment and maskne problems, Cantella are one of the powerful ingredients that could end all of your skin concerns at the moment. They will help to soothe irritation, angry skin and dreaded stress breakouts. You’ll definitely want to keep an eye on this one.

Pre, pro and post-biotics

Health and wellness is the biggest priority at the moment, so there’s no shock to see outer wellness brands and products are gaining the popularity that they deserve. If anything, the K-Beauty trend is really on the hype for pre, pro and post-biotics that are jam packed with microbiome-friendly skin care and consumable supplements that offer total protection to your overall wellness. Koreans are all about glowing from within, so linking external care and internal care will be a big trend this coming season. You need to join the hype train as well, because it is about time we practice health and wellness care, not just external beauty. When it comes to ingredients, the K-Beauty often chooses ones with fermented ingredients. So stay tuned.

More Skin Detoxifying

The Koreans believe that our skin is technically a reflection of our mental state. So when you take care of your mental health, stress and anxiety, you will see how glowing your skin becomes compared to before. As for this trend, we will come across with more barrier-strengthening ingredients that will overall boost your immunity. Expect more serotonin boosters like mushrooms, mugwort and ginger to come in the game. Oh, and ceramides which are heavily tied to prevent moisture loss also will make a comeback! Thanks to K-Beauty.
