Another day, another TikTok trend! If you’re a regular scroller on the app, chances are you’ve come across the words “office siren.” It’s exactly what it sounds like; Gen Z has decided to infiltrate work spaces by making it sexy again — that is, if it ever was, outside of unrealistic movies like The Devil Wears Prada. Similar to most TikTok trends, the office siren aesthetic is a simple and exciting way to romanticise the otherwise boring experience of going to work or class. No one does harmless fun better than chronically online members of Gen Z.

When envisioning an office siren, the number one template to follow would be the cameo appearance of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen in the aforementioned comedy film. It’s all about embodying the early 2000s Y2K office-core trend while making it sexier and more feminine. With that being said, let’s set aside the discussion of whether or not dressing like an office siren is actually appropriate for the workplace — don’t spoil the fun! Here’s everything you need to know about the new trend, from makeup to accessories.

The Office Siren TikTok Trend

Makeup

The office siren trend borrows heavily from the late 90s and early 2000s with a much needed modern twist. So put down the tweezers, skinny eyebrows aren’t necessary, although if you’re willing to go the extra mile for the sake of authenticity, be our guest.

The main focus of the office siren makeup look is the eyes. Pick a neutral eyeshadow shade like grey or white (which complements your skin tone, of course) and blend the colour all over your lids. You can even pull the shadow all the way up into your crease and browbone for an extra dramatic effect. An office siren never tones down the theatrics, so draw on a sharp winged eyeliner shape next with the darkest eyeliner you own — and don’t forget your waterline. Afterwards, pack on dark mascara on both your upper and lower eyelashes; the more spidery-looking, the better. When your eyes appear alluring and sultry enough to warrant the word “siren,” you’re good to go.

An office siren makeup look also calls for an ombre effect on the lips. Overline your pout with a brown lip liner and focus on accentuating your cupid’s bow, before going in with a matte lipstick in your favourite nude shade. If you’re addicted to being extra, you can apply gloss on top for a shiny ombre lip.

Accessories

The star of the office siren look has to be the trend’s accessories, particularly a signature pair of glasses. Whether or not you actually need them to see is irrelevant, if you want to be the office siren in your workplace, you’re gonna have to cop a pair. Glasses are very much in style this year, as mega stars like Billie Eilish and Doja Cat rocked them recently at the Oscars and the Grammys. So who are you calling nerdy?

Thanks to it-girl Bella Hadid, Bayonetta glasses have been adopted as the official office siren accessory. Named after the eponymous Japanese video game whose protagonist famously sports a pair, Bayonetta glasses are typically tiny, slim-framed, and rectangular in shape. However, if this particular type of glasses isn’t flattering on your face shape, any pair of rectangular glasses can be worn to complete the office siren look. Whether they’re black, silver, grey, or tortoiseshell, your favourite pair will do.

Clothing

TikTok is always coming in clutch with a step-by-step guide on how to dress like the latest trend. For the office siren aesthetic, you most likely already have the necessary pieces in your wardrobe, especially if you’re a working woman. Fitted blouses and button-downs, tops and tanks with turtlenecks, pencil skirts, low waisted trousers, and pointed kitten heels are everyday staples in a professional lady’s day-to-day life. As long as the business casual clothes you’re wearing flatter your silhouette, congratulations, you are now your company’s one and only office siren! File the paperwork, make the office small talk, and climb the ranks; all while looking like you lure men to their deaths in the high seas.
