Whether it’s your first time or your tenth time, the idea of getting your ears pierced is always an exciting idea. However, choosing the placement for your next pierce is the bigger challenge—the upper lobe? The helix area? The conch area? Before you decide to rush on to the nearest ear-piercing locations, there are a few things that you need to consider.

Due note that not all pierce boutique offers the same safe services and price range. So if you’re on a tight budget, we suggest you opt for a place that doesn’t cramp up much of your wallet. Make sure you visit a place that holds professional workers and safe services as well. Small wrong movement while performing the pierce could trigger your skin safety. You could face excessive bleeding and skin torn.

For the sake of your safety, Beauty Insider listed out all some of the safest and CDA-approved piercing locations in Singapore for you to get your next ear jab. But before you book an appointment, please read some of the FYI’s about piercing that you should know.

How To Choose A Placement?

Before you choose the place, time and date, make sure you choose the most important part when it comes to ear piercing—the pierce placement. If this is your first time getting an ear pierced, of course the best place is the major-ruling, ear lobe. But if you need something that could make a statement, how about you opt for your rook area? Or your helix? Are you down for daith perimeter? There’s a whole different constellation of places to choose from!

The Pain & Healing Time

Unless you’re Wonderwoman, of course you would feel a slight pain right after getting your ear pierced. But it’s like the sting of a bee, nothing much. You would be able to go through it. However, if you’re getting more than one piercing at the same time, the chances of you facing additional pain are higher, as your body is still attempting to recover from the first jab.

In terms of healing, you can expect redness, swelling, and sometimes, discharge will ooze out of the newly-pierced area in the first week. If you do face irritation, redness and discomfort for more than 5 days, please go consult a doctor, as you might be facing an infection. Just make sure to avoid touching the pierced locations using your bare hands.

Depending on the area that was pierced, the healing time varies but typically, they fully heal within 6 months to a year. In between, you should have your initial piercing downsized after 4-6 weeks, then avoid touching, sleeping on, and hitting your new piercings for them to properly heal. Once your piercing is fully-healed, you can replace them with brand-new studs, hoops, drop-downs, and more!

The Aftercare

When it comes to aftercare, it’s a lot easier. Some may think it takes a village to look after the piercing area, but to be honest, it won’t actually require more than elbow grease. Usually, they will provide you with painkillers. But if they don’t, you can simply purchase them at the nearest pharmacy.

Make sure to purchase a saline solution or salt water solution to spray over the piercings to keep them clean and to help with the healing process. You must use them daily and spray over the pierced area once to twice a day. Use a paper towel to dab off the excess and clean around the edges with discharge on them. Then, make sure to avoid adjusting or pushing your healing piercings. Lastly, never ever touch them with your hands unless they’re clean!
