It might be a sensitive topic to discuss, but did you know that the skin South of the Border faces similar issues, just like the skin on our face? Confused about how to take care for the skin below? Don’t worry, we have the lowdown on vulva health and everything in between!

Vagina vs Vulva.. Erm What’s the Difference?

Did you know that what is commonly referred to as the vagina is actually the vulva? The vagina is the canal inside the body, and is not visible to the naked eye, whilst the vulva is the entire external area of the vagina.

The vulva is actually a sum of many parts, which includes the vaginal lips — labia majora and labia minora, clitoris, urethral opening and the vagina itself. In addition, the vulva also includes the inner thighs and mons pubis, which is the flesh over your pubic bone.

My Vulva Looks Different……

Each and every vulva is unique; it comes in all shapes and sizes, depending on ethnicity and age. Even going through childbirth can result in a change. In short, there is no “perfect” vulva. So embrace what you have!

My Discharge is Sometimes Brown, is that Normal?

Vulva and vagina health is not something that seems to be discussed openly. We think it should be! The volume, smell and colour of vagina discharge can vary from cycle to cycle. A great way to combat concerns is to get on a period tracking app. Most of the time, regular for you is normal. The app allows you to better understand anomalies such as unusual odour or difference in discharge. If these changes become prolonged, be sure to consult your doctor and seek professional help.

Regular hair removal, over-zealous washing and hormonal fluctuations, contribute to vulva health. This delicate and sensitive area can get quite irritated and dry — much like the skin on your face and body.

This compelled Cynthia Chua – self-professed “Queen of Vulva” – to introduce TWO L(I)PS, an innovative range of luxury skin care products devoted to taking care of a woman’s most intimate area, the vulva.

Blackout Two L(I)PS – $28

Blackout, TWO L(I)PS’ debut product, is the world’s first activated charcoal vulva mask. It is enriched with botanical ingredients and works in a four-step process to soothe, detoxify, brighten and moisturise the vulva. Its secret lies in the use of infrared activated Binchotan charcoal to boost lymphatic drainage and keep the area clean and fresh.

The mask is a one-size fits all and designed to fit the entire vulva area, right down to the labia majora and inner thighs.

Our favourite ways to use it? After semi-permanent hair removal treatments like Strip’s Advanced Florescent Treatment (AFT) hair removal or when the inner thighs are chafed after an intensive spin class to help soothe, heal and hydrate the area.

What are the DO NOTS when it comes to Vagina Health?

  • Never douche the vagina. The vagina is self-cleaning and restores balance on its own.
  • Stay clear of home remedies when treating yeast infections. It is always best to seek a doctor for professional help.
  • If you are concerned about odours, take note of what you eat. Poor diets can often lead to odours.
  • Smoking can affect the delicate ecosystem of your vagina. Research has shown that nicotine compounds can be found inside cervical mucus of smokers.

To ensure that your vulva area is good health, TWO L(I)PS has a complete skincare routine for your lady bits. Best bit? These products are not only for the vulva, but can be used on the body and face as well:

  • Undercover – Reduces blemishes on skin
  • Diamond – Brightens dull skin
  • Pout – Hydrates and plumps skin
  • Bumps – Treat post-hair removal folliculitis

Be sure to lookout for them as you begin your #LoveYourVulvaMore journey with TWO L(I)PS!
