Do you want to get rid of stubborn belly fat? The bad news: cutting out carbs and doing 100 sit-ups a day might not be enough. While diet and exercise are one of the ways to slim and tone, pockets of fat can remain — especially if you’re genetically predisposed. Unfortunately, women are more prone to belly fat, and the older we get the harder it is to burn it. One of the available procedure is the Vaser Liposuction treatment. If you consider this treatment, here are the details that you need to know.

What is Vaser Liposuction?

VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance. That’s a very scientific tern for breaking down fat using soundwaves.

Special machines emit ultrasonic energy pulses that break down fat cells, without damaging surrounding tissue. This is not a laser, which uses light energy. It uses sound vibrations, which “shake” the fat cells until they fall apart. Tiny cannulas or suction devices remove this residue. It is non-invasive and doesn’t damage the skin surface or healthy skin tissue.

What can Vaser Liposuction treat?

Vaser liposuction can break down stubborn pockets of fat like belly fat, back rolls, and love handles on the waist. Even “fit” or athletic people can use Vaser Lipo to emphasize their six-pack abs. Men can also use Vaser Lipo for body sculpting and abdominal definition — so it’s not just for ladies!

Some doctors also use Vaser Lipo to treat other saggy areas of the body that are difficult to tone even with regular exercise. This includes the neck, arms, and inner thighs.

What are the benefits and advantages of Vaser Liposuction?

This minimally-invasive body contouring treatment requires a local anaesthetic and has a minimal downtime. Dr Leonardo Fasano explains, “Vaser is the gentler Lipo. It melts the fat before the suctioning stage begins. This is in contrast to the classic liposuction, when the surgeon really removes fat more in chunks, increasing the chances of post-operative complications such as more bruising, lumpiness and unevenness.”

Aside from breaking down stubborn fat cells, Vaser Liposuction also stimulates collagen production. This can lead to gradual but long-term tightening and firming of the skin, especially in areas where you have lost a lot of inches and weight.

How long will a Vaser Liposuction Singapore session take?

One session can take about 1 to 2 hours, but you will need the whole day off to rest after the treatment. Also, there will be swelling and some discomfort. That may take a few days before you feel like your “usual self.”

How long is the recovery time?

While Vaser definitely has less downtime and side effects than surgery, you do need to take it easy afterwards. Most doctors recommend avoiding rigorous physical activity for a few weeks.

As for going to the office or light activity like housework, it really depends on the size of the treatment area and your age and fitness level. Your doctor can tell you what precautions you need to take, and how long you need to wait before resuming your usual routine.

Do I need to be hospitalized?

This is an outpatient procedure that can be done in a clinic.

Can Vaser Liposuction help me lose weight?

This procedure focuses ontoning, sculpting and contouring — basically, firming areas that don’t have good definition, or have small but stubborn pockets of fat. It is not a good body treatment for obesity.

What is the usual Vaser Liposuction Singapore price?

According to MoneySmart, Vaser and other body contouring procedures can cost anywhere from $1,400 and $14,000. That’s a very big price range, but that’s because the liposuction cost in Singapore will be affected by the size of the area, and the number of sessions you need. For example, toning your arms will cost a lot less than toning the stomach area. According to DoctorxDentist, you can expect to pay about $1,500 to $1,800 per body part.

It is a very specialized treatment that needs special training and machines. You need a surgeon who is certified to perform liposuction in Singapore and has done several similar procedures in the past.
