Remember that fiery Yves Saint Laurent fragrance commercial for Libre that aired absolutely everywhere, featuring English popstar Dua Lipa singing “Freedom” multiple times in all caps? It’s possible that pretty soon, we’ll be treated to another Dua Lipa YSL commercial being played everywhere on a loop, but this time for YSL Beauty’s new makeup collection. In exciting news, Dua Lipa has been named as YSL Beauty’s global makeup ambassador to front their brand new LoveShine collection, released today. Ooh la la!

As mentioned, the Grammy-winning artist has a long-standing relationship with the French luxury fashion house, representing them as YSL’s Beauty global brand ambassador since 2019. It’s a no-brainer for the duo to continue expanding their partnership with new ventures, starting with makeup. Lipa herself said, “This feels like a very natural progression in our relationship. I’ve been with the brand for five years now. I’ve grown up with the brand.”

Of course, YSL Beauty expressed nothing but excitement for this new partnership. “Dua Lipa brings an electrifying energy to our brand, inspiring women to not just wear makeup, but to make a statement about who they are and what they stand for. Her influence is a celebration of individuality, a statement of empowerment, encouraging everyone to embrace their unique beauty with confidence,” said Stephan Bezy, the international general manager of YSL Beauty through a press release.

Through working with their new global makeup ambassador, YSL Beauty hopes to appeal to a new generation of beauty consumers in 2024. Given how massive of a global cultural phenomenon Lipa’s career has been, the 28-year-old will definitely help reach that goal. Exhibit A: Lipa’s latest music video for her single Training Season featured her reapplying a YSL lipstick, which set the internet abuzz. Everyone attempted to identify the product, only to discover that the lipstick is a part of the upcoming collection for which Lipa serves as the ambassador (namely the YSL LoveShine Candy Glaze in the shade Nude Pleasure).

Dua Lipa and YSL Beauty’s first makeup related campaign is for the launch of YSL LoveShine, made available on their website today. Fun fact: Dua Lipa’s name translates to the word “Love” in Albanian, her native language. We love a creatively obscure nod.

The new YSL LoveShine collection consists of “20 luscious shades of YSL LoveShine Lipsticks and 11 juicy colours of YSL LoveShine Candy Glaze.” These two latest lipstick formulas from YSL Beauty grant their customers the option to choose between rocking a wet shine or a glossy shine on the lips.
