The List Of Aesthetic Treatments For Men In Singapore

Tattoo Removal

A bad tattoo choice made in our youth can often remind us of a past mistake. As a result, it is not surprising that the majority of gentlemen choose to have their tattoos removed permanently. What’s more, a tattoo removal procedure is also one of the initial aesthetic treatments for men that introduces them to such a new realm of beauty. During the tattoo removal process, the doctor will use high-powered lasers that can penetrate deep into the skin to remove the ink particles.

There are various types of lasers that were utilised for this treatment including the PICO laser and Q-switched laser. However, it also largely depends on the characteristics and colours of the tattoo. Primarily, the laser device emits a pulse of energy that heats up the tattoo pigment in the skin to remove it permanently.

A tattoo that has brown, green, dark blue or black pigment is much easier to remove as it absorbs a variety of wavelengths. On the other hand, colourful tattoos take a longer time as they can only be eliminated using specific types of lasers. Usually, between five and ten treatment sessions are required for the doctor to dissolve the ink permanently.

Hair Removal

The thought of getting a boyzilian waxing can seem excruciating for some but there are several hair removal options that can remove unwanted hair painlessly.  The solution to getting rid of excess body hair is through IPL (Intense Pulsed Light technology) or laser hair removal. The latter is known to deliver permanent results as it targets the hair roots with laser light energy. The laser hair removal treatment for men is suitable to be performed on several areas including the armpit, chest, back and shoulder.

During the session, the device will transmit a single wavelength of light to the targeted area without damaging the nearby skin and hair follicles. Several sessions of laser hair removal are needed from six to ten treatments for optimal outcomes. Although it can be slightly more expensive than IPL treatment, laser hair removal delivers permanent results with fewer touch-ups required.

Brotox

Brotox which is aptly named after botox for men is one of the options for anti-ageing treatments. The botulinum toxin contains clostridium botulinum which can relax the facial muscles, thereby minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Aside from firming the skin on the neck, botox is also used as a treatment for teeth grinding and excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis.

When it comes to the botox treatment for men, the procedure is slightly different from that for women. For men, the upper face requires nearly twice the units of botox than women due to the facial muscles. Additionally, the large and broad facial muscles also indicate the complexity of such treatments. The objective of the brotox is to reverse the signs of ageing without compromising the main male features, like softening the brows with an arch-type look.

Injectable Fillers

The list of aesthetic treatments for men often involves non-invasive procedures with zero downtime and it includes injectable fillers. Most of the men undergo this treatment to treat loss of volume, hollow eyes and accentuate other facial features. Among the list of available treatments are dermal fillers, collagen fillers, Profhilo, and Rejuran

However, do note that each of these injectable fillers varies in terms of its benefits, purposes, and type of active ingredients. To illustrate, Profhilo which contains high and low molecules of hyaluronic acid functions to stimulate collagen production, helping to alleviate the skin’s firmness and hydration level. Hence, it is suitable as a rejuvenation treatment for those with dull, dry and lax skin without affecting the masculine features.

Whereas, dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that mimics the natural hyaluronic acid present in our skin. There are two types of dermal fillers namely hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers and collagen-stimulating fillers which are designed to suit different needs and targeted areas. Regardless of these distinctions, dermal fillers are used to treat signs of ageing and to remodel the appearance of specific facial features such as the chin or nose.

Particularly for men, dermal fillers can be used to create the impression of a stronger jawline. Aside from highlighting the bone structure, it also delivers a chiselled jawline which is regarded as a main feature of masculinity.  As these injectable fillers provide different benefits, it is important that you consult with a medical professional on the suitable treatment.

Hair Transplant

Hair transplant is one of the aesthetic treatments for men that is often chosen for those who are suffering from hair loss or male-pattern baldness. There are two types of hair transplant procedures in Singapore namely Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). The former which utilises hair follicles from the donor’s site is a commonly performed procedure as it has less scarring with minimal downtime. The treatment is time-consuming as these hair follicles are inserted into small incisions in the bald areas.

During the Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) treatment, a strip of the skin attached to hair follicles is removed before they are divided into groups of hair grafts. Then they are embedded into incisions made in sparse areas. Although the Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) procedure is quicker than Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), it imposes the risk of developing keloid scars. The cost of a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) transplant in Singapore varies according to the severity of the hair loss and the success rate of the hair grafts. Typically, the cost ranges from $6000 to $10,000.

Apart from hair loss, hair transplant for facial hair is also considered one of the go-to aesthetic treatments for men. In particular, such treatment is used to harvest facial hair and sideburns to frame the face for a slimmer look. The treatment involves using healthy hair follicles that grow on the sides and back of the scalp. Afterwards, they are implanted into the targeted areas like the jawline, chin and sideburns. The hair transplant procedure for the facial usually takes between three to nine hours, depending on the complexity of the conditions.

Chemical Peels

Apart from getting regular facials, more men have turned to in-office treatments particularly chemical peels to target several skin conditions. As the name indicates, this facial treatment uses chemical and acid-based solutions to remove dead skin cells to minimise signs of ageing and hyperpigmentation. For those who seek an alternative to laser treatment, the chemical peel is less expensive with a minimal risk of developing irritation.
