Fat Transfer Treatment

Fat Transfers — Get a Better Body Shape and a Youthful Face!

Categories :

Have you ever said, “I had plenty of curves, they’re just all in the wrong places!” We wish we could move some of the fat on our hips or thighs to our breasts, but that seems like an impossible dream… or maybe not. Surgical techniques such as fat transfer do exactly that and can help not just to give you a better body shape but even a more youthful face.

Amaris B. Clinic answers the most common fat grafting questions.

What is Fat Transfer?

Fat transfer, also called fat grafting or fat injection, takes fat from our body to increase volume in other parts like the breasts or butt. The fat is collected from the “donor site” – usually the abdomen or thighs – and then injected where you need it.

Fat transfers can be used for facial rejuvenation, breast augmentationbuttock enhancement and body contouring. While we do not usually think that our face needs more fat, a lot of ageing concerns stem from fat loss. These include sagging cheeks, hollows under our lower eyelid, and the general loss of facial definition. It all boils down to choosing between injecting your own body fat instead of other types of dermal fillers.

Fat Transfer Vs. Dermal Fillers

In some ways, facial fat transfer and dermal fillers provide similar results. They can smoothen out wrinkles, correct sagging, improve your facial contouring, and – in the hands of an experienced and trained doctor who knows where to inject it – make you look better and younger.

But there are differences in uses, effects, and sessions.

Grafting uses your own fat.

By using your own body’s natural resources, fat transfer eliminates the chances of an allergic reaction and rejection while restoring volume and achieving a natural look.  Depending on the type of fillers you choose, these modern facial rejuvenation products not only adds volume but also hydrates and improves skin texture.  However, as these products involve the use of synthetic materials, they can cause reactions in patients with multiple allergies.  So, discuss your preferred options with your doctor.

Consider the downtime.

You can get fillers and leave the clinic within an hour or less, with no incisions or general anaesthesia. Fat transfers will require removal of fat followed by fat harvesting. Discomfort and downtime are minimal, but you need to take it easy for a few days. Depending on the areas treated, both procedures will involve some swelling.

Look at the number of sessions.

Fillers may need to be repeated regularly (the intervals depend on the type of fillers and how your body reacts to it). Fat transfers results are long-lasting. Most patients permanently retain 50 – 80 percent of transferred fat.

Weigh the costs.

Since the type and number of fillers depending on your own beauty goals, this is something you need to discuss in depth with your doctor. But generally, fillers tend to be cheaper in terms of upfront costs: you pay less per session than if you invested in a one-time fat transfer treatment. But do keep in mind that for fillers, you will need to repeat the sessions and the costs involved subsequently. And of course, if you’re looking at breast or butt augmentation, fat transfers for large body parts will be more extensive than facial contouring.

Choose your doctor.

Whether you are planning on fat transfer or fillers injections, it is important to go to a credible, experienced doctor with an eye for creating a natural look. If you are opting for fat transfer treatment, make sure that the doctor is trained, has performed surgical fat removal (liposuction), and is knowledgeable with fat grafting techniques.
