5. Apply a base

Apply the transition or neutral shade to your eyelid using a wide eyeshadow brush. Most importantly always make sure that the shade is neutral. Not sure which one to choose? The easiest way is to select the transition shade based on your skin tone or choose a shimmery eyeshadow for a glitzy style.

However, if you want to go bold, opt for eyeshadow based on your eye color. If you have brown eyes, it is recommended that you select grey, purple, green, or gold. Whereas, people with green eyes will find that purple, grey, yellow and red colors will enhance their features. On the other hand, blue eyes will look enticing with an eyeshadow of orange, purple, yellow, or red.

When applying the eyeshadow, try to make it a habit to remove the excess from the makeup brush by tapping it off. This will prevent the eyeshadow from getting all over your face. Apart from that, always make sure to leave a gap underneath your eyebrow.

6. Define the crease

Afterward, choose a darker color than a neutral shade and use a smaller makeup brush to apply the eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eyes. When applying the eyeshadow for this step, we suggest that you apply it in a V-shape from the upper lash line to the outer crease.

If you’re a beginner start out by applying the eyeshadow lightly and build the intensity from there. Another tip is that the upper part of the V-shape should be much lighter than the lower portion. Plus, you can opt for a half of the V-shape by applying it only at the lash line.

7.Highlight to pop it out

Then, take a new brush and apply the highlighter color to the inner corner of your eyes and along the brow bone. This will help to make your eyes appear bigger and brighter.

8.Blend to perfection

When it comes to eyeshadow, we do not want to see obvious demarcate lines between all the different shades. Thus, it is important that you blend the eyeshadow until it looks seamlessly blends. Just simply grab a blending brush and diffuse the shades together. If you have overly blend it and mess up the color shades, just apply the eyeshadow to fix it and blend it cautiously. Finally, finish the look with eyeliner and mascara for a complete eye makeup look.

When do eyeshadow expire?

Each makeup product varies in expiration date. But since eyeshadows are prone to air-exposure, the average eyeshadow usually lasts between six to 12 months only. But please bear in mind that different brands will also have different shelf-life. In short, if you opt for a clean, vegan and using only 100% natural ingredients then, expect a longevity in quality due to its zero preservatives in their products. However, if you have a cream-based eyeshadow, their entity would be much shorter than powder-based products. The reason is because cream-based products are usually made for hydrating purposes, and hydrating ingredients are a breeding ground for bacteria to multiply. So, yuck! So before you swipe your credit cards at the cashier counter please ensure that expensive-glamour-looking eyeshadow palettes have their own expiration date—for the sake of your skin concern.
