Beauty Insider is going to give you an honest review of what we think about the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick. But, it should be wise to remember that this is a PERSONAL OPINION. If you’ve tried it and don’t like this wonder lipstick, that is entirely valid. That is a given, seeing as everyone’s skin and lips are different. You may react differently to the product depending if you have dry or moist lips. Maybe the colours aren’t your taste, or maybe you’d prefer something better. Whatever it is, your opinions are what matters most. We’re just here to give a little…insight! So without further ado, let’s get into it.

The Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick offers weightless wear with its formula containing a powdery technology. What’s more, is that its formula is highly pigmented and offers an intense colour payoff. With this liquid lipstick, you can opt to wear it as a gradient look, solid full look, or even for your cheeks! Offering up to 16-hours of saturated liquid matte colours, it comes in 8 shades for you to choose from.

Packaging

We are fans of liquid matte lipsticks as they are easy to apply and are long-lasting as well. The Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick has a very basic packaging, that may not attract a lot of attention. To be honest, if we saw this at Watsons or Guardian, we wouldn’t pick it up right away. The packaging itself reflects the matte aspect of the lipstick and is usually the same colour as the lipstick shade. Thus, it is also quite easy to differentiate between the different shades of colours. Instead of looking at the bottom of the tube to check what colour it may be, the coloured packaging gives a pretty clear image. It has a white top, which in our opinion would get dirty much more easily compared to darker colours such as black. But, this may just be a preference from us! 

First Impressions

Furthermore, the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick comes in an angular tube, so it is safe to say that it will not be rolling off your table anytime soon! As we pulled out the lipstick, we could see the liquid oozing out and it just seemed so satisfying. Upon closer inspection, the tip of the brush is nicely shaped to fit your lips. So, it glides onto your lips easily as it follows the shape of your lips. Since the tip is in a sort of arrowhead shape, it actually is able to hold much more product. If you are a fan of slathering on a ton of lip products on your lips, then do pick this up! We also noticed that the formula is a creamy texture that is not too watery either. It is pleasing to the eyes as it lays smoothly. 

We liked the applicator, as it fits nicely in our hands, but this depends entirely on you of course. Upon applying, it did feel kind of sticky at first, but that feeling soon wore off as we dabbed and evened the product out. Our beauty editors love applying in one swift motion following the outline of their lips, and the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick applies perfectly! After a while, the product starts mattifying and it’ll soon be transfer-proof! Just give it a few seconds before you start touching your lips. 

Texture & Pigment

As we’ve mentioned, the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick glides easily onto your lips and the texture is definitely on the creamier side. What’s more, is that the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick is super pigmented! That is what we love! We’d rather have a lipstick that is overly pigmented than one that is not pigmented enough. Besides, you can always wipe away excess product if there’s too much. Too little, on the other hand, is a hassle. Once you start building up the layers on your lips, it may look clumpy and heavy. The colour payoffs are also absolutely amazing. We are so in love with the shades Self Starter, Ground Breaker and Assertive! These shades are definitely suitable for everyday wear as they are a peachy, pink colour. Allowing you to look feminine and bold at the same time. 

Longevity

Now, for the million-dollar question. Does it stain? Is it long-lasting? Does it rub off? Based on our experiences, the answer to those questions are – No, Yes, No. Amazing right! We were pretty surprised ourselves. When it comes to lipstick, there is no doubt that we all worry about staining our shirts, mugs and foods. We are sure everyone can relate when we say that we always keep our lips sealed in a tight line when trying on clothes. That’s because we fear that the lipstick may transfer and stain the shirt./dress! 

But, from what we’ve encountered, the  Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick holds up to its claims. Furthermore, this lipstick is also quite long-lasting. It doesn’t rub off or fade easily. Albeit if you are having a meal, the lipstick is indefinitely going to fade a little bit. Especially if you are having a few drinks. You can’t expect your lipstick to stay highly pigmented after coming into contact with liquid right? But so far, we are happy with how the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick has performed. 

Final Thoughts

Overall, we are pretty happy with the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick! It is definitely something we will be picking up again when we need to head out. It may even be some of our favourites! But, as always, take this review lightly and treat it as a guide on whether you should try it out yourself. Remember that everyone has different opinions.
