The Half-Up

Kate, who runs a hair and beauty blog and is one of Real Simple magazine’s hair experts, gives this super easy (but super classy) braid tutorial. “The half-up works on all hair textures: straight, wavy, curly,” she says. You don’t need major hairstyling skills or tools either: she shows you how to add volume and tie everything back with just a few bobby pins.

Five-Minute Braid Tutorial

It can’t get any easier than this: a center part, a basic braid, and with just a little twist you have this super pretty updo. If you have naturally straight hair, this will need no hair tools whatsoever. But even with wavy or curly hair, you just need your trusty hair iron and non-aerosol hair spray. (Hair oil can also keep stubborn curls in place.)

Red Carpet Updo Hack

This is such a sophisticated updo, but it is one of the easiest braid tutorials to create. It works on all hair lengths and all you need is clear elastics and bobby pins. And you don’t even have to worry about it being messy — the bun hides everything, and any loose ends actually makes it sexier.
